![]() Writers now a days don't try to have those types of characters take center stage because they're hard to write for. He does what's right, and he's largely immune to damage. I don't know, Gideon is just a very odd character to make into the main character of a story, he more archetypally is a moral compass tough guy. I have no evidence, but my more pessimistic impulse is that wizards was hoping to quietly make Chandra straight so she could be more easily marketed to an international audience, but that backfired which in turn lead to the creative disagreements and then the switch to Gideon.
